When did Nar Mattaru form? Had you guys been playing in other bands, and when did you meet?
   Francisco Bravo >
Yes, we played together when we were very young. Andres (drummer) and I played in the original Dominis Xul until 1997. I played in Denying Nazarene and Andres played and still plays in Thornafire, Anima Inmortalis and 9th Entity.

What is the underground metal scene like in Chile currently? Any bands that you like?
   Francisco Bravo >
In Chile the metal scene is very big, and the metal styles are diverse. It's very easy to record music, and many bands have new records out. It's good. The bands that I like are Tottem Korps, Sadism, Recrucide, Homicide, Kraterion, Deniyng Nazarene, Folkheim, etc...

What bands have had an influence on your music?
   Francisco Bravo >
Many many bands, the old school ones like Autopsy, Bathory, Sodom, Death, Nocturnus, Morbid Angel, Incantation, Immolation, Gorefest, Accept, Celtic Frost, Venom, Obituary, Nuclear Assault, Slayer, etc. The influences are diverse.

What does Nar Mattaru mean?
   Francisco Bravo >
It has multiple meanings. We formed this band in 1998, and a lot has happened since then. We forgot the original meaning of the name, it changed over the course of time together with our own lives. What really matters is that the black abyss is still there, in the depths of our minds...

Are you guys devotees of the occult? How do you combine this interest in your music?
   Francisco Bravo >
Personally, I do not like talking about what I believe in. I don't like when someone who has read a couple of books thinks that s/he know everything about the cosmos and the end of this age. I'm more cautious, reflective and a disbeliever.

Who writes the band's lyrics and what subjects inspire your lyrics?
   Francisco Bravo >
Now it is our new vocalist who writes the lyrics, because C. Artarys left the band. I am certain that he will do an excellent job, he was the voice of the black-death metal band Gorhore. An old friend from the Dominus' times.

What lies in the band's future?
   Francisco Bravo >
We will soon launch our second album through I, Voidhanger Records. We are in the process of recording the last songs. It will have 10 songs, with better production than on our debut album "Enuma Elish".
