Could you tell us about your pre-Gnaw Their Tongues Projects? You began recording around 1988 - could you tell us about these recordings as well?
Mories > I played in bands like Atrocious (very crappy doom/death/grind, Cauteror (doom/death, recorded three demos) and than Soulwound (pre-funeral doom/ doom/death, recorded one demo). I had a few solo projects like Astral, Ophiuchus, The Nefarious Cult. All recorded demos. A few are available at the GTT bandcamp and on archive.org for free download. And of course i did De Magia Veterum (countless releases) before GTT.
When did you meet Eric Aderlating - had you known him from his own projects?
Mories > He's an ex of my sister. I knew he had interest in the same kind of music. I'm not sure when he started doing Mowlawner.
Who are some of your influences in dark ambient music?
Mories > I actually grew up on 100% metal. I still love that stuff. I rarely listen to ambient music for that matter. I was more into industrial things: Coil, Throbbing Gristle, Swans, etc. In dark ambient I liked stuff like MZ412, Brighter Death Now (+ other Cold Meat stuff).
Are you interested in occultism and any occult writings influence your music?
Mories > Yes I'm interested in occultism but I don't integrate it into GTT's music. I use some in De Magia Veterum.
Are there any films or book that may influence your music?
Mories > Yes i enjoy books and films (all kinds) but again, not in my music which is basically about real events.
Are there any current composers of ambient music that you like?
Mories > Lately i have not been listening to ambient at all.
have you ever been asked to score a film soundtrack?
Mories > Yes, as Aderlating we are going to score the old silent Nosferatu movie, live! Also GTT's music has been used a various visual projects. GTT's music is also used on installtaions.
Any side projects that you wish to tell us about?
Mories > Yes, check out SEIROM, a completely different site of my music making!
